Christi Barr grew up in Arizona, California, and Texas, moving with her family as her father, a priest, was assigned to different parishes. A cradle Orthodox Christian, Christi’s upbringing fostered a love for the Church and its ministries.
Christi earned a Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Science from McMurry University, where she was highly involved in campus life. Initially aspiring to become a doctor, she shifted her focus to public health after realizing her passion lay in building community programs and improving mental health and overall well-being. She later completed a Master of Public Health at George Washington University, living and working in Washington, D.C., during part of her graduate studies.
Before joining St. Ignatius Orthodox Church in November 2022, Christi gained experience in the for-profit sector at a software company in Austin, Texas, where she developed a strong understanding of business practices and workflows. In her current role, Christi supports the clergy and lay leaders to ensure the parish’s ministries and programs run efficiently and effectively.
Outside of her professional life, Christi enjoys exploring new hobbies, spending time outdoors, and reading. She is also an avid creator, dabbling in woodworking and 3D printing.
