St. Ignatius Orthodox Church is delighted to welcome Tyson Hugee as our new Director of Youth Ministry. Tyson brings a wealth of experience, energy, and a deep commitment to nurturing the spiritual and personal growth of our youth.
Tyson holds a B.A. in Religious Studies from the College of the Holy Cross, where he excelled both academically and athletically as a member of the football and lacrosse teams. During his time there, he also served as President of the Active Bible Study group, founded the Orthodox Christian Fellowship on campus, and mentored his peers in faith.
A Philadelphia native, Tyson comes from a family deeply rooted in service, faith, and resilience. His father works for Homeland Security, and his mother is an attorney. His younger brother, an Orthodox Christian as well, holds a Master’s in Counseling and works as a Clinical Psychologist in Boston.
Before joining St. Ignatius, Tyson served as the Youth and Teen Leader at St. Philip Orthodox Church in Souderton, PA. In that role, he facilitated SOYO and Bible Study classes, organized impactful activities for 30 teens, and led engaging programs for 50 younger children. He also coordinated trips to monasteries, fostering spiritual growth and connection. Through mentorship and quality time beyond structured programs, Tyson has built strong, trusting relationships with youth and their families.
When asked about his vision for youth ministry at St. Ignatius, Tyson shared, “I am extremely honored to be joining the St. Ignatius family. My hope is to be a beacon of light and love who strives to do the Lord’s will and, above all, to be there for the youth of this parish—someone they can trust, confide in, and depend on as we all climb the ladder of divine ascent together.”
